Section 1, Unit 3: Use possessive pronouns and adjectives

This unit continues work on the to be structure that wrote about in the previous unit so look at it there. There are also more adjectives and names of objects. And then we are introduced to something belonging to someone. As usual unless stated otherwise examples are from Dynamite kiss. In case anyone is reading this and is wondering how I find the links, I find them by searching the subtitle files with a python script i made myself.   The vocabulary Korean English Links Notes 가방 bag https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037599?&t=650 책 book https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037606?&t=3647 카메라 camera https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037596?&t=3761 핸드폰 cell phone https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037596?&t=583 볼펜 pen https://www.netflix.com/watch/80039945?&t=2428 (master's sun) 지갑 wallet https://www.netflix.com/watch/80039938?&t=923 (master's sun) 제 my https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037593?&t=147 크다 / 큰 big https://www.netflix.com/...

Section 1, Unit 2: Order food and drinks

This unit seems to teach the words of some specific types of Korean foods. In this unit we start with various grammar points. Again, I have used Dynamite kiss for examples if possible. First of all because I really love that show and have watched it so many times, it is easier to find things here. Second of all because I want to mess up your Netflix viewing history as little as possible 😜.  The vocabulary Korean English Links Notes 고기 meat   https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037602?&t=1225 김치 kimchi https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037594?&t=1104 두부 tofu https://www.netflix.com/watch/81726590?&t=2277  (Queen of tears) 만두 dumpling https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037596?&t=217 잡채 japchae https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037602?&t=1243 찌개 stew https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037594?&t=1104 뜨거운 hot https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037599?&t=2382 Here hot is used to describe how someone with a fever feels. 뜨거운 hot https://www....

Section 1, Unit 1: Order at a cafe

Welcome to the Korean Duolingo Course. I will show links where the words are said in Netflix because it is nice to hear the words from real people and not the AI voice. I am going to use the Dynamite kiss for examples if I can, but I might also use others shows. If I have not commented on which show it is, it is Dynamite kiss. If you are watching any of those particular shows, I would suggest you make a profile just for learning Korean because following the links will mess up your progress.  The vocabulary Korean English Links  안녕하세요 hello https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037593?&t=823 https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037593?&t=2281  감사합니다  thank you https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037593?&t=299 https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037595?&t=301  주세요  please give.  https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037595?&t=1532 https://www.netflix.com/watch/82037595?&t=1926 ...

Hi and welcome.

The purpose of this blog is to document how I try to learn Korean with a combination of Netflix and Duolingo. I will mostly follow Duolingo's lesson plan but also do some things outside of that to improve how to understand Karama better. I started getting interested in Korean in November 2024 because I felt I needed an alternative to American entertainment. But changing the language of your preferred entertainment is kind of hard. I can do laundry while watching English language entertainment, but for K-Drama I have to pay attention to the subtitles. So my purpose for going on this learning journey is to understand K-drama without the subtitles. Please note that if I share links for Netflix, they will only work if you have a subscription. And I am in Europe so I don't know what shows are available elsewhere.
